What is the schedule and programming?

One session of Knight Camp runs for one week, from 10am to 3:30pm Monday through Thursday, and 10am to 4pm on Friday. Each day features a mix of martial training and history lessons, along with a study of medieval games and knightly virtues. The week ends with a day of group battles, including castle defence and fighting on a “bridge”, wrapping up with a tournament in the afternoon, where campers can show off their new knowledge and skills to their friends and family. Who are the teachers?

Every lead instructor at Knight Camp is trained in-house to Academie Duello’s high standards of instructor training, as well as years of previous experience with youth-specific instruction, whether in children’s day camps, martial arts instruction, or early childhood education. Read more…

All of the instructors are assisted by an array of volunteers, most of whom are graduates and senior students of the Knight Camp program.

What happens during before and after care?

Kids in before and after care are welcome to work on activities provided during the camp, play medieval and renaissance board games, or bring their own activities from home. This will be largely self-directed time with adult supervision but don’t worry: they’ll have plenty to keep them occupied after each day of camp! Read more…

Are the ranks transferable to the youth program?

Knight Camp ranks apply only to Knight Camp and are tied to the academic knowledge that the students learn each week. Ranks in the ongoing youth program are attached to the student’s demonstrated skill and understanding of theory for each of the weapons taught. Read more…
