Bard on the Beach: Fight Night

Hey everyone, it’s one week away from our performance at "Bard on the Beach: Fight Night”, Monday Sept 8, 7:30pm! It will be an amazing night of swords and words: readings and stories from Christopher Gaze and C. C. Humphreys, famous sword fights re-enacted from Shakespeare's plays, and behind the scenes explanations of the choreographic process.

The peak of the evening will feature Academie Duello’s top students participating in a Prize Play—the testing (the prize) of a student (the player) through a series of martial swordfighting challenges.

Devon Boorman is the Co-Founder and Director of Academie Duello Centre for Swordplay, which has been active in Vancouver, Canada since 2004. Devon’s expertise centres on the Italian swordplay tradition including the arts of the Renaissance Italian rapier, sidesword, and longsword, as well as knife and unarmed techniques.
