Hear Ye, Hear Ye!

September 27th - 29th is Tourney Time!

Yes, planning is in the works for our Annual Knightly Games Tournament!  This year we're making a full weekend of it by adding another iteration of the popular Mounted Archery Workshop, and including a day of riding, mounted combat, and games practice beforehand.

Friday 27 September

Workshops, Lessons, Assessments and Practice

Need to brush up on your mounted games before the big day? Been a while since you've been in the saddle?  Or have you never swung a sword, or your leg over a horse's back, before?  Whatever it is you need to sharpen (as long as it's not your sword -- blunt weapons only please!) you'll find it here, from beginner swordplay and riding lessons, to mounted combat and games practice.  For our out of town guests there will be the chance to ride our horses and have an informal evaluation to determine the best mounts and the best divisions for you.

Saturday 28 September

Mounted Archery

Our friends from Borsos Torz Horseback Archery Club will be back to teach not one but two workshops this time.  The morning will be a beginners' workshop, similar to the one we held back in May.  In the afternoon will be a slightly more advanced workshop (I hesitate to say "intermediate" since none of us are yet) for those who took the May workshop.

Sunday 29 September

Knightly Games Tournament

The tournament will run on lines very similar to last year's, with a grooms' competition, team and individual games, on-foot divisions, and displays of mounted skill at arms.  There's something for everyone, young and old, experienced and green, to show off their skills and try some new ones.  Prizes in all divisions!

Logistics

Location: All events will take place at Red Colt Equestrian Farm Co-op, 12320 No 2 Road, Richmond.

Horses: Stabling is available at $15 per night.  Some school horses will be available, with priority given to Cavaliere program members and out of town guests.  If using a school horse you must have a minimum of Riding Level 1 or the equivalent (EC Rider 1, CPC D level).  Riding assessments available for out-of-town guests on Friday September 27th.

Registration: pricing will be available for half-day, one-day and three-day packages.  Check the  Cavaliere calendar for updates.

Volunteers: as always we'll need lots of volunteers to make this event run smoothly.  To find out how you can help, email jennifer(at)academiduello.com.

Can't wait till September?

In the meantime, come on out to our weekly Mounted Games Practices, or sign up for the Integrated Package for July and August.

Mounted Games Practices continue  every Friday evening from 5-7pm throughout the summer.  The cost for games practice on a school horse is $15 for Academie Duello members; or $25 for non-members.  Ring fee if you are using your own horse is $5. Spectators welcome!

There is no Intro this month — next one is August 4th.  However, we still have our regular Mounted Combat workshop on July 7th.  The next series of Cavaliere classes takes us through July and August.  If you want to participate in the tournament from horseback you’ll need your Riding Level 1, and you’ll need your Riding Level 2 to ride in the next Mounted Archery workshop, so sign up now to get signed off for September!
