Beginner's Courses in October: NEW COURSE!


This month, we are excited to introduce a new Beginner's Course: Fight Like Sherlock Holmes! This 4-class introductory course was created to better integrate students into our ongoing Bartitsu program and improve the learning process. Classes will take place on Saturdays from 2:00pm to 4:00pm. Each week, two hours to Fight Like Sherlock Holmes!

Fight Like Sherlock Holmes

Our introduction to the Bartitsu program, this course will teach students the fundamentals and integration of jujitsu, scientific boxing, pugilism, savate and walking stick.

Our two swordplay Beginner’s Courses, Taste of the Renaissance and Warrior Fundamentals, are 8-classes long and can be taken twice during the week for one month or once a week on Saturdays for two months.

Taste of the Renaissance

Taste of the Renaissance is our introduction to the Weapons Mastery Program with rapier, sidesword, and longsword. As a student in this course you will:

  • Learn the fun and exciting arts of the rapier and longsword
  • Enjoy an engaging workout that’s good for all fitness levels
  • Get a taste of Renaissance history through its martial arts
  • Learn in a safe and open environment for beginners

Classes run Monday/Wednesday at 7:00pm, Tuesday/Thursday at 5:00pm and 7:00pm, or Saturdays at 11:30am. The next round of classes start Monday, September 30th, Tuesday, October 1st, and Saturday, October 5th.

Warrior Fundamentals

Warrior Fundamentals is our introduction to the Warrior Fitness Program with longsword, sidesword, sword & shield, and spear. In this course, students can expect:

  • An invigorating workout combining swordplay and full body movement
  • Training in the fundamental skills of the traditional European warrior including wrestling, longsword, sword and shield, spear, and quarterstaff.
  • Instruction in the basics of Armizare, a medieval Italian combat system designed to train knights for battle.
  • An encouraging and supportive environment for learning new skills and meeting fitness goals.

Classes run Monday/Wednesday at 6:30pm, Tuesday/Thursday at 6:30pm, or Saturdays at 10:00am.  The next round of classes start Monday, September 30th, Tuesday, October 1st, and Saturday, October 5th.

Intro to Archery

Sunday, November 3, 2013, 10:00 am – 12:30 pm

This 2.5-hour workshop will give you a taste of this romantic and effective martial form and certify you for the first level of our ongoing archery program. Students will learn:

  • The history and theory of archery
  • Implementation of good body mechanics
  • Proper stance, draw, and release technique
  • The Y-grip

Students will start first with theory and then implement that theory in coached shooting and instruction.

Cost: $75.00 (15% discount for members)
