DNTO's Sook Yin Lee at Duello

Sook-Yin Lee, host of CBC Radio's Definitely Not the Opera, popped into Duello yesterday evening and learned a few sword wielding skills for her program this Saturday that asks "what do we create when we recreate the past?"Sook-Yin was a lot of fun to talk with and we had a good time with the little bit of swordplay we were able to do while fighting our way around microphones and the outstretched arm of her producer Chris.

This is a favorite program of mine on CBC so it was a thrill to have these guys in and I'll be listening to CBC before our tournament on Saturday.

While they were here they spoke to quite a few people about their experiences at Duello and how they might connect modern swordplay with their own historical fantasies. I hope the show is able to capture the modern nature of our school and how we connect with history. It could easily represent us as recreationists instead of martial artists. Either way I'm looking forward to it.

CBC Radio at 2pm on Saturday (at Noon if you listen on Sirius says the website).
