June HEMA Instructor Training Intensive

I’m excited to announce that Academie Duello has set dates for our next Historical European Martial Arts (HEMA) instructor training program. The 50 hour Rapier and Longsword Instructor Intensive will be starting up with an intensive from June 20th to 24th, 2016.

The last intensive filled up in less than a week, so I wanted to start getting the word out early before we open up registration.

By joining the program you will become part of an exclusive group of satellite practitioners who will receive personal attention from both me and our senior instructors over the course of eight months.

The program combines:

  • Intensive in-person instruction. In the first 50 hours we will take you through the foundation of both rapier and longsword technique and pedagogy. The goal is to give you a solid basis for further learning after the intensive has concluded.
  • Teacher training. To help you guide others in your own study group through our tested delivery methods, developed through years of experience at Academie Duello.
  • Regular support from peers and from the Academie Duello instruction team. We will be actively communicating with you throughout your program via online forums and video conference sessions.
  • Remote technical review, advice, and testing delivered through video review plus written quizzes and resources.
  • A structured study program. We will be providing you and your study group with weekly training plans and class outlines linked to matching video content. This will help you learn in an effective way and stay on track.
  • Opportunities for satellite practitioners to certify in both our martial and instructional programs.

The intensive is only the start. Afterwards we will work with you to develop your study group and your own skills from abroad using the tools outlined above. I believe that through this combination of in-person instruction and well-applied technology we can finally deliver a truly effective distance learning program.

On April 10th we’ll be making twelve spots available for a limited time. I am looking for people who are truly dedicated to learning and sharing Historical European Martial Arts (HEMA) and believe in the way we teach them at Academie Duello. The course will be tailored to the knowledge level of those enrolled. We need to fill the spots early so we can customize development.

To register – or for more information – visit our HEMA Instructor Program page. The registration link for the June intensive will be available on April 10th at 10am PDT.

If you have any questions feel free to contact me. I’m looking forward to meeting many of you in Vancouver.
