Countdown to Carosella 2016

Rob & WinnieCarosella 2016, our full three-day symposium of mounted combat, horseback archery, skill-at-arms, and horsemanship, is coming up fast.  This once-a-year event is an unparallelled chance to immerse yourself in these ancient arts.  Whether you're an experienced rider and martial artist, or completely new to it all, there is plenty to engage you all weekend.

If you haven't signed up yet, hurry to our Carosella pages.  Otherwise this is only a sample of what you'll be missing:

Intro Courses

Duello_Mounted-Combat_Chena_2897Learn how to shoot an arrow and swing a sword from horseback! Both Introduction to Mounted Combat and Beginner Horseback Archery will be offered at Carosella.  These courses are normally $149 each, but you can take one for $100 if you sign up for one day, or both for $200 if you sign up for the whole weekend.   Plus you get to take as many other workshops as you can fit in. We only run Intro courses a few times each year, and this is by far the best deal on both of them!

Clinicians Diane Prosser and Sherry Leväaho

Allie & JennJoin us for the Friday lunchtime lecture and demo on Natural Horsemanship by clinician Diane Prosser, and then work on your Classical Riding in private or semi-private sessions with Sherry Leväaho of Leväaho Classical Horsemanship.

Skills Workshops

Throughout the day on Friday we have swordplay, grappling and spear workshops from the ground, the falsemount (wooden horse), and horseback with Academie Duello's Devon Boorman and Jennifer Landels, culminating in a Mounted Sparring workshop where you will put your skills to the test.

Ballet in the Barn

Ballet is one of the best kinds of cross-training a rider (or swordfighter) can do.  Learn core exercises to improve your strength, flexibility, and balance with Jennifer Vartiainen of Danceability Studios.  A great way to limber up on Saturday morning!Ben quintain
