Exciting changes are a-hoof in the Mounted Combat Program.  As of August 1st, 2018, the horses and the program will be moving to 21955 16 Ave in Langley.  This beautiful property (formerly Ridge Meadows Farm) near Campbell Valley Park has an indoor arena, heated lounge, two outdoor arenas, and ten acres of pasture for our horses and riders to enjoy.

Here’s what’s happening at both locations over the summer!

Mounted Combat Arts Intensive

There are still a couple of spots available in this 5-day, 50 hour intensive for practitioners of all levels. Throughout the week you will learn the foundation of our approach to Italian Longsword, English Riding, and Horsemanship. Each day we will develop you as a rider and martial artist through detailed practical and theoretical lessons.

There are two streams in the course: one for people with riding experience and one for those without. Successful completion of the program allows you to examine for our Horsemanship Level 1 and Mounted Combat Fundamentals qualification.

The first four days of the program includes instruction time on and off the horse, practical work, and clinics. Each 10-hour day includes two riding sessions on our school horses, practical and theoretical horsemanship sessions, swordplay instruction and clinic time for personal development.

The final day includes assessments to certify participants for further study within the Mounted Combat Program, followed by a fun and relaxed Mounted Combat Playday where participants can put their skills to the test in friendly competition.

Beginner Horseback Archery

Whether you are an expert rider or archer, or a complete beginner at both, this is your starting point.  You will spend about an hour and a half on the ground learning the techniques of Hungarian archery from the Kassai school.  After that, you will begin shooting from horseback while our handlers lead your mounts past the targets at the walk.  Experienced riders may have the option to try shooting at faster paces without handlers if they are competent and comfortable at the walk.

Intermediate Horseback Archery

If you have taken our Beginner course previously and have a minimum of Riding Level 1 or the equivalent this course is for you.  Riders with Level 1 will walk and trot, Level 2 Riders will be able to shoot at the canter.  Last time we practised multiple targets on canter circles — what will we get up to this time?
